I debated whether or not to post this here on dA. It is very personal but I decided Hunter and Juan would want it here as a tribute.

Juan Thompson (Hunter S. Thompson’s Son) is my best friend. He invited me to a private 1 year reunion of Hunter’s death to celebrate his life and keep his memory fresh. I wanted to give Juan a special gift. I wanted to paint Hunter for him but the older wiser Hunter of his later years. I wanted him to smile and be comforting to Juan to keep the real memory of his father close (not the media image). This acrylic is the result of that quest. It is acrylic on canvas 24” x16”. I will have it framed next week for Juan. Send you good thoughts and prayers to Juan and his family if you will.

I'm in awe. I don't comment or find myself in awe often. Hunter would have a romantic moment with this. I'm extremely envious that you are friends with Hunter's son. I can only express admiration for this work.

Awesome picture man.

Hunter S was a good man who seemed to know what the world was really about. His work has inspired me in many aspects of my life.

It's amazing that Juan is your best friend? I'm guessing since he is, you met Hunter S? That is something I'm very envious of!
